Student Life
Students who attend the South Carolina Governor's School for Science and Mathematics are joining a unique living-learning community that promotes both academic achievement and personal growth.
GSSM assists students in making the most of their experience by offering structure, opportunities for fun and leadership, and support.
The bottom line is, yes, it is hard work, but we have a lot of fun, too! Fun times include student activities, athletics and residence life programming. In short, there is always something going on where students can get involved.
You might find a pool game to join in on. You may be drawn toward the sounds of a jam session in the north lobby. You might be invited to compete in a video game such as Super Smash Bros. Brawl. You may also find yourself drawn outside to kick the soccer ball around on the soccer field, or play sand volleyball with some friends.
Better yet, you might end up at the Midnight Rooster sipping a coffee or slurping a smoothie with your roommate. Wait...on second thought, you remember that it is your turn to buy toilet paper, and you decide to go on our weekly trip to Wal-Mart. Just know there is always something going on!
Ultimately, the student life program at GSSM is designed to establish and maintain a community living environment that is safe, fun, comfortable, accepting of diversity, and conducive to learning.
