Director of Athletics

  • B.S. Business Administration, Coker College
A B.S. in Business Administration with a focus in Accounting from Coker College has allowed many business opportunities for Coach Pate. Aside from being a financial investment advisor and volunteer college basketball coach, he is the Director of Athletics for GSSM.
 
As Director of Athletics, Coach Pate's responsibilities include managing the overall development and organization of 13 varsity sports teams to incorporate: scheduling practices, contests, officials and other game management staff, budget preparation and distribution, eligibility verification, hiring of athletic coaches, fostering community and institutional involvement through booster club activities, publishing The Eagle's Nest and maintaining compliance with all high school, NCAA and other regulatory groups.
 
Additional responsibilities include instructing the classroom-based Life and Leisure course and supervising the PAR (Physical Activity Requirement) Program for all students.
 
In his free time, Coach Pate enjoys playing golf and watching every sport possible. He and his wife, Katie, currently reside in Belmont, NC.
