Susan Engelhardt

PASE Professional Development Coordinator

B.A. Physics, Coaching (minor) - Gustavus Adolphus College

M.S. Biomechanics, Dept. of Kinesiology - Arizona State University

Susan Engelhardt has always been extremely enthusiastic about science and science education, which led her to earn a bachelor’s degree in physics and a master’s degree in biomechanics (the physics of human body motion). Since completing these degrees, she has made a career of educating students of all ages.

This has included coaching youth gymnastics, coaching high school and college diving, teaching college physics and astronomy, and teaching professional teachers. These experiences have exposed her to a wide variety of technologies, and Engelhardt has learned how to use them to explore physical systems and encourage engagement in learning.

Prior to coming to the Governor’s School, she worked for ScienceSouth where she developed the standards-based physical sciences activities for the summer science teacher camps and was involved with creating classroom workshops.

Her other teaching experiences include teaching in the physics and astronomy departments at the College of Charleston and Iowa State University.
