January 20, 2010

The South Carolina Governor's School for Science and Mathematics (GSSM) will serve as a host site for the popular summer enrichment program "Camp Invention." This unique day camp will be held July 26-30, 2010, for students entering grades one through six.

Camp Invention is a weeklong educational experience that aims to foster creativity, teamwork, inventive thinking and science literacy among elementary school children.

Camp goers work on various projects where they will learn scientific concepts including buoyancy, probability and statistics.

Camp Invention began in 1990 as an education outreach program of the National Inventors Hall of Fame Foundation in Akron, Ohio, with support from the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. By 1995, the program was able to go nationwide.

The program has received rave reviews from participating educators, parents and children - giving it an approval rating of more than 90 percent.
