GSSM Graduates Celebrate $10.9 Million in Scholarship Dollars

This year, 61 seniors from across the state graduated from the South Carolina Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics in Hartsville, earning in excess of $10.9 million in scholarship dollar offerings.
One hundred percent of the graduates will attend college; 100 percent earned Life Scholarships; 93 percent earned Palmetto Fellowships; 26 percent were National Merit Scholars; and eight percent were National Achievement Scholars.
Sixty six percent of GSSM’s Class of 2008 will stay in South Carolina for college this fall. A few of the top colleges attended by recent GSSM graduates include: the University of South Carolina, Clemson, Furman, Harvard, Brown, Duke, University of Virginia, University of Southern California, Vanderbilt, Carnegie Mellon, Emory, Georgia Tech, Northwestern and Davidson.
